Visual Affects

The starting point for this residency was to try and express certain emotions visually in a series of drawings. This was an unusual way to approach the drawing process as I would normally never try to depict just one emotion in a drawing. For aesthetic effect I would normally aim for a certain level of ambiguity, and a range of emotions if emotions are to be aimed for at all. These initial drawings then led to the graphical elements that were created for the 'In a State' Interface. For those graphics, I was even stricter and disallowed myself the use of symbols, as I wanted to see mostly how line, form and colour devoid of symbolic meaning can express different emotions. To see the graphics created for the 'In a State' interface, please do the survey.
